Peace, mercy and blessings of Allah
The VMCF is pleased to announce the purchase of its permanent place on Nov- 8 -2024. A place with a beautiful prayer hall instead of renting , a place where we can have and hold our community activities, we can have our weekend schools, our youth activities, our meetings, our seminars, etc.
This great achievement Alhumdeall is first because of Allah SWT then because of the cooperation and support of all our community members.
During this, we have done two fundraising events that collected around 32K and and around 83K. We far exceeded the the planned down payment.
This marked the four stage process:
1- Founding Stage: Establishing the organization, working on outreach efforts for the local Muslim community and the larger community of Harrisonburg , participates Interfaith and Faith in Action, ..Awarded The faith Organization of the year 2022 for our work with Afghani refugees in 2022 (April 2019 – Dec 21)
2. Al-Akram Stage: The VMCF rented a place for a temporary mosque based on initiative of few brothers and sisters, who worked hard on running the place and guaranteed the rent for one year. The original lease was one year then extended to three (Jan 22-Jan 25).
3. Financial Feasibility: Great thanks to the Bank of the James for accommodating our financial needs on this project. Bank of the James was flexible enough to adapt no-interest purchasing model. Then finding the group of brothers who guarantee the loan officially and working with them to finish all the requirement. Finally the place ..we have see many places (April 22- Oct 24)
4. Purchase (1244 Old Depot Lane) and Renovation:
May Allah continue to guide us on the path of righteousness and grant us the fortitude to maintain His houses of worship with the utmost reverence and dedication.
Friday Khutbahs: English starts at 12:15 for almost 20 minutes and Arabic starts at 1:15 for 20 minutes.
Five Prayer: Five prayers start Iqama times varies after Athan according to but different in Ramadan. See the Ramadan prayer calendar.
