Eid Basket

Thank you for visiting our Eid basket donation page!

Please join us and support this initiative to create a gift hamper for each new Afghan refugee family filled with items such as Eid decoration, skin care, make-up, jewelry, dresses, toys, handbags and books. This initiative has been created in an effort to uplift the spirits of our new Afghan neighbors this coming Eid, Insha’Allah. About 83 Afghan refugees have settled in Harrisonburg and Staunton. Having left their homes abruptly in such devastation, we as a community would like to do something special for them this Ramadan.

You can help!
We as parents feel hurt if our child has a wish to wear a new dress, new jewelry, visit a place and we can’t afford to spoil them on Eid a day where every Muslim dresses in their best outfits, as stated in the Hadith by our beloved Prophet SAW. This anguish is what the Afghan refugees are feeling every day as they struggle to adjust! Don’t let them feel this anguish on Eid-ul-Fitre, let’s lift their spirits and show them we love them, we feel for them and care for them!

Please contribute generously, in any amount you can. 100% of your donations will go to purchasing items for the gift baskets. We’re also reaching out to local small businesses as well as corporate chains in hopes to obtain donations.
We are in close contact with the local refugee center where our community has established a good relationship with the local Afghan refugee families.

We plan to fill the hampers with:

  • Islamic books. Any genre- any age – gender.
  • Basic Jewelry. any age- gender.
  • Lights decoration
  • Islamic appropriate decoration
  • Eid clothes for all ages and genders
  • Make-up
  • Hijabs
  • Men headwear
  • Personal care products
  • Prayer beads

May the Almighty take away your problems as you’ve taken away the worries of these fragile refugee families.
We will accept contributions until April 19th in the 3rd week of Ramadan so that the gift hampers will be distributed before Eid-ul-Fitre.

Your generous donation is greatly appreciated.
